2011: What a great year (photographically speaking)!

Some of you know my husband and I started my (our) photography business just in May. Things like getting the business license and business cards and all that, and I feel so lucky and fortunate to have met and worked such wonderful people this year! You have no idea how much I appreciate your encouragement and appreciation for my work and I really cannot thank you enough!

Many of you know I work full-time elsewhere and taking photographs feeds my soul. I love doing it ... I just wish I could do it full time, all the time! But maybe one day... Who knows?

Our last few shoots of the year were of three families. Two of them on one day, and one another and all were fun!

To everyone we've worked with this year – and you know who you are... THANK YOU just isn't enough!

Let's do it again in 2012!

Just keepin' it real... How do you value things?

When it comes to spending money, sometimes it can be difficult to part with, and sometimes you're freely willing to spend whatever amount to get what you want for certain indulgences (like a latte, for instance or a massage).

We recently had to have our roof and gutters cleaned. Knowing I or my husband really couldn't do this ourselves, we hired someone to come out and do it for us. The cost was $300, and we didn't bat an eye at the price.

There isn't any lasting joy or fulfillment we're getting from this expense. It's just maintenance and one we'll have to pay again when the time comes. Our expectation is this will help the life of the roof.

We've all bought tires and know how that purchase feels. Rather painful... it's not like it makes your car look better or brand new by any means, but again, it's just maintenance. We endure a lot of different expenses in life and everything has their price.

I guess what my point here is, is that photographs have lasting and enduring qualities.

  1. It can be decor in your house (which it should be!).
  2. It's timeless. As a photograph ages and time goes on, you reflect on that time. I still have photographs of my son when he was little, and photographs of family members when they were young and still love viewing them!
  3. It can be updated with new photographs (and should be!).

The question is, how do you put a price tag on this? How do you justify what you purchase?

I just tallied what my hubby and I pay for coffee over the course of the year on average. Would you believe it was $1,050?!!! When I think of it this way, WOW! What other things could I be buying instead? Lots, I assure you!

Think about it. When the misfortune of a house burning, or some other disaster, I have often heard time and time again the family distraught because of the fact they lost all of their photographs.

No, they don't reflect on their recently-cleaned roof, or the furniture or appliances, THEY ARE REPLACEABLE. People are of utmost importance in our lives, and nothing can replace their images.

My goal is simple. I want you to understand and reflect upon what's important and what's worth the price.

For the small fee of $125, you can have your own, personal 1-2 hour photo session with up to four people at a location of your choosing. Print costs vary depending upon what it is you are wanting to order, but I promise to take the best photos (I think) you've ever had, and think you'll fall in love with your family all over again. That is why I love doing this!

So think about it, and consider scheduling an appointment with me today. Visit my website, www.jodimorganphotography.com and let's get you photographed! (c;

Charity & Cory tie the knot!

I had the great pleasure of shooting my very first wedding for a beautiful (undertstatement) woman named Charity, who was marrying her longtime love, Cory. I had some experience working with the family from the spring time, so the familiarity was great to have for the big day!

It was wonderful to see this blended family become one... all of them are great, beautiful people! The entire day was surrounded in love, laughter and fun and was so special to be part of it.

There truly is so much I could write about this day, but I'll try and let the pictures do the explaining. (c;
